June Glossybox FAIL - I'm canceling my subscription
Before I even received this box in the mail I decided I was going to cancel my subscription - and when I opened this box and saw the huge mess, I had no doubts about my decision anymore. I gave Glossybox a chance and I'm officially OVER IT. Why the sudden change of heart? Well let's take a few steps back...as you may know I was really excited about Glossybox finally coming to the US, I even cancelled my Birchbox/Beauty Army subscriptions so I could try Glossybox instead. I happy with the first ever US Glossybox in May, I enjoyed most of the products and my only complaint was the shipping. Glossybox ships out their boxes at the VERY END of the month...I personally find this annoying because my box is never going to get here during the month it is for. My May box arrived in the beginning June and my June box arrived July 3rd. Being a blogger this really annoys me because I want to post about it during the correct month. So that's the first reason I am canceling my subscription, the next reason...
Before I get into the next reason, as you can see my June Glossybox arrived a huge mess, the AHAVA Wash leaked EVERYWHERE, the bottle was COMPLETELY EMPTY...everything was a sticky mess. So that pretty much was the icing on the cake and confirmed my decision to cancel. I'm not even going to talk about these products today, I'm so over it. So the next thing that pissed me off...I was charged for my JULY box before I even got my June box in the mail!! I just feel like they are doing this totally wrong, this is their 18th company around the world and they should be able to ship out our boxes in a timely manner so we receive them in the correct month (especially since they are charging us at the BEGINNING of the month).
The last and most important reason I am canceling is CHANGE OF PRICE...Glossybox is the most expensive monthly subscription in the US right now, it is suppose to be $21/month for 5 travel size samples. I knew this sounded pretty expensive but I was willing to see for myself if I felt like I was getting my money's worth. I was charged $21 for my May box BUT THEN I was charged $23.05 for my June and July box! WTF WHY?! Take a wild guess why --- TAX. Yup turns out they have to charge tax in California and New York only. Totally lame, Birchbox and Beauty Army NEVER charged tax...they were always $10 and $12 even. So screw you Glossybox, I'm not paying $23.05/month.
Before I even received my June box I emailed Glossybosx telling them how I felt and requested a refund for both June and July. They emailed me back today explaining everything/defending themselves and said "We will work on refunding your June and July orders" - does that mean for sure YES they will refund me? I don't know but I'm going email back now with pictures of this box so I definitely need a refund for June and I don't want my July box - I want my $46.10 back and I want to know WHEN they will refund my card.
That's my story! I'm sure Glossybox will have some great products in their future boxes (although June wasn't that exciting) but like I said I'm over it and $23.05 is too expensive. What do you think about everything? I can't decide if I want to join Birchbox or Beauty Army again...or maybe I will try something new like Green Grab Bag.
