I actually like the packaging, I think it is very unique, they look like little space alien pods haha! The plastic feels kind of cheap, but the "petals" snap together and hold well. Now let's take a look at the important part...the eye shadows! I really had high hopes for these eye shadows, the colors looked like they go well together and could create a beautiful smokey eye! When I first swatched them I thought they were okay, not super pigmented. But then when I went to actually apply them and create the "look" I was extremely disappointed. Let's take a closer look them and the swatches before I talk about why I dislike them...
As you can see they are not super pigmented, the only colors that have good pigmentation are the darkest color in each quad. The texture of the eye shadows is kind of hard to explain...they are not super smooth, but they are not gritty either...I guess in between but more smooth. When I swatched them with my finger I thought I would be able to work with them, boy was I wrong! This goes for both quads: I had Urban Decay Primer Potion on as base, I really had to pack on every color and they blended HORRIBLY. When I tried to blend them they would just disappear and I would have to pack more eye shadow. It just did not work. I was getting frustrating with the eye shadows but wanted to create the look to show you guys...that's what they look like in the gif's above (my first time creating a gif, let me know if it doesn't work for you!). They were just so blah I wanted to created a gif to make it more exciting haha.
I'm really bummed I can't find my receipt to return these, because I really want to. So far I've only liked one thing from Nuance, the Flawless Mineral Cheek Trio, you can read my review here. But hey, this is a brand new drugstore brand, can't expect much. I'm not sure I will buy anything else, since I've only liked 1 out of 5 products. What do you think, have you tired any other Nuance products?
